It seems that you can't turn the news on these days without being confronted by yet another story about the weather. Whether it be extremely hot temperatures and subsequent bushfires or floods caused by cyclones, there seems to be no escape from it. For most of us, however, it's not the weather from yesterday that interests us most - it's more about what we are likely to face when we walk out of the door tomorrow morning. There are many weather apps on the market but we are still on the hunt for the perfect one. Meteovista HD is the newest of these and offers a beautifully simple, very convenient and fully customizable weather app for iPad that could well be one to stir a good deal of interest. Meteovista HD consists of 8 very flexible widgets that are really easy to add, delete, move, expand or adapt, allowing you to create your very own, fully customizable weather pages on your iPad. These widgets can be added or deleted easily - and used multiple times - to set up weather monitoring for all your favorite places. The app features a 14-day forecast for all locations worldwide and has a detailed 48 hours graph - with push notifications as an option for a short weather forecast - even if the app isn't open. You can simply check today's or tomorrow's weather, inspect the rainfall radar to see how much precipitation is expected, take a long-term look with a weekly overview or consult maps showing ratings for weather and wind conditions. On a more serious note, it will also inform you on weather alarms or hay fever and other health conditions. Another convenient feature of the app is its activity widget which tells you what the weather will be like for certain activities like hiking, a back garden BBQ or a trip to the beach so you can see pretty quickly if the weather is going to be good for your particular activity. Check the weather for your favorite location and your favorite activity together so you get a more specific forecast. Simply add your favorite surf spots, for example, and use the water sports widget to receive a weekly overview for your current location and your surfing destination. If you are concerned that the widgets might be a little small visually to see the weather properly, you can just zoom in to any widget on the dashboard to get more detailed information. Just tap on one of the widgets and you'll even be able to see what time the rain will stop. Whether you are at home, on vacation or at work, the Meteovista HD app tells you exactly what the weather is going to be like. So, if you carry a weather app on your mobile or tablet, what would make you think about switching allegiance to this one instead? Well, I guess Meteovista's best attributes are its simplicity of use, it's flexibility and the fact that you can customize it to exactly the way you want it. Just choose the town or holiday destination where you want to see weather information and the widget will do the rest for you. Because Meteovista's HD is made up entirely of widgets it makes it simple to configure it exactly the way that you want it, making it one of the most user-friendly weather apps we've seen. Specifically designed in the Netherlands for iPad, the app has quickly proved itself that country's top weather app with over 1.5 million downloads. Now it's available in 6 other languages including English, French, German and Italian - though strangely not in Spanish or an Asian language. Maybe they are still to come. The app is completely free but there is also an ad-free version that'll set you back a mere three bucks per year and there'll be both Android and iPhone versions out soon.
