Is there any way to activate an account on a used and registered iPad?

April 17, 2014 at 04:28AM:

I just purchased a second hand iPad but I can’t activate my account because I didn’t realize that the iPad is currently linked to an old account.

I don’t know where to contact the old owner. According to the activation help I need to contact the original owner to have them removed this device from their account.

Is there any other option to activate my account without contacting the original owner?
