The Hermitage Museum is embracing mobile technologies to make its art collection of about 3 million items, featuring world-famous works of Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt, along with a splendid impressionists’ collection, available to mobile users worldwide. The Hermitage app takes you on a fascinating journey around the rooms of the famous museum to enjoy the masterpieces of the Hermitage collection and the magnificent palace interiors of the grand royal residence of Russian Emperors. Additionally, you can purchase virtual excursions, starting at $0.99, and simulate an actual visit to the museum. For the time being, there are 13 add-ons available, three of them are free. Designed for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, the Hermitage Museum app is a great asset for those who would like to discover great works of art – paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ancient weapons, most exquisite exhibits of decorative and applied arts and unique archaeological finds - on the screen of a smartphone. Variety of visual content, interactive panoramic views and in-depth info gives you a virtual sense of actually being in the museum. For those who decide to travel to Saint Petersburg, the Audioguide app is also available. About the museum State Hermitage is one of the largest museums in the world. Its exhibitions include over 3 million items representing Antiquity, Western Europe, Middle East, Russia and many more epochs, countries and regions. Its foundation dates back to 1764, when Catherine the Great purchased a big collection of Western European paintings. The museum consists of five buildings located in the historical center of St. Petersburg on the Neva embankment. In the State Hermitage you can see masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Ticiano, Rembrandt, Rubens, Matisse and Picasso. The museum also hosts a world's best collection of Holland baroque, French paintings of 19th and 20th centuries, Western European decorative art collection, a unique Gold of the Scythes exhibition, and ancient Greek jewelry.
