Why does Microsoft error display the error “Microsoft office cannot verify license for this product” on my PC?

October 31, 2014 at 12:53AM: Microsoft office was reinstalled onto my Windows 8.1 computer and will not let me get into my Word documents. I get the error message “Microsoft office cannot verify license for this product”. HELP!
